The week starts in the between-eclipses doldrums, after which things may get too lively for comfort.
Mercury is the newsmaker this week, forming most of the difficult aspects. It is important to keep a sense of perspective (and humour) and remember it’s all a mind game in the end.
On Monday, the Scorpio Moon helps us to go within and observe and process. With an uneasy aspect between Jupiter and Saturn, though, a sense of personal power in the face of current events may be lacking.
By Tuesday it is a frictional quincunx between Mercury and Uranus has us on edge. We may tend to exaggerate issues and find it hard to detach from our emotions. Communications can go astray or be misunderstood. By midafternoon, Luna moves into freewheeling Sagittarius, helping us to kick free.
Wednesday, October 18, the Sun conjoins the south node in Libra, doubling down on the karmic nature of last week’s eclipse. Have you been denying your own unique identity for the sake of feeling like you belong? Or isolated yourself out of such fear? These are just some of the issues that can come up now. It makes a quincunx to Neptune, suggesting that too much negation is not a good policy. Romantic bubbles may be burst.
In the wee hours of Friday, Mercury goes what is known as Cazimi, or “in the heart of the Sun.” The Sun represents our consciousness and self-identity. Mercury represents our minds, learning and perception. And as with the recent solar eclipse, in which the Sun and Moon came together in Libra, it offers the potential for insights and clarity around the self.
Mercury squares off with Pluto the same day, and early on Saturday the Sun does the same. Pluto brings to light things we would like to keep hidden. It can indicate our shadow side, that part of our interior landscape we really don’t like.
Within these squares, there is an invitation to reveal more of ourselves to ourselves and bring it into the light. To perhaps begin a process of release with the intention of moving on to something better. Although squares are known for their tension, if we lean into the experience it goes more smoothly. And offers tremendous opportunity for healing.
Happening late Saturday and in effect all day Sunday, a Venus-Jupiter trine helps end the week on a hopeful, perhaps even romantic, note. The love goddess also holds dominion over creativity, values and valuables like money. Jupiter brings abundance, so even though both planets are in sensible Earth signs (Virgo and Taurus respectively), we can expect some grace and ease. It’s a good time to enjoy life’s pleasures, perhaps a deux, or mend any fences that were broken earlier in the week.
